29th Annual Rent Ceremony

Trustees, colleagues, old friends and new, were out in force on the 29th June as we prepared, once again, to pay our ‘peppercorn’ rent of apples and flowers to the landlords of Covent Garden’s iconic market building and piazza. Jonathan Strong and Simon Radford accepted the rent on behalf of Lothbury Investment Management, while Michelle McGrath represented the newly merged Shaftesbury Capital. Although the Trust is 35 years old, we hold a 150 year lease on most of the historically important buildings within the Covent Garden Conservation Area, and there is still much to do to as custodians of this important part of historic London.

Our thanks go to all those who took part in this year’s ceremony, including the Deputy Mayor of Camden, Samata Khatoon, seasoned Town Crier, Alan Myatt, and local street performers Spikey, Nick, and Omid.

Let’s do it all again next year!
